The short version
Crypto assets are highly volatile and you can lose all of the money you put in. yi3ld is an educational information provider: everything on yi3ld is general information for learning purposes, not personal financial advice. Back-tested and past results are not a reliable indicator of future results. Only use money you can afford to lose, and consider getting independent advice.
Crypto assets
- Prices can fall sharply and quickly, sometimes by most of their value in hours, and may never recover.
- Many tokens, especially smaller and newer ones, can be illiquid: you may not be able to sell at the price you see, or at all.
- Projects can fail, be hacked, change their token economics, issue more tokens (dilution) or be abandoned.
- Crypto assets are generally not protected by deposit insurance or investor compensation schemes.
Research and picks
- Rankings and scores are produced by a rules-based method using third-party data, which can be delayed, incomplete or wrong. A high score is not a prediction that a price will rise.
- "Beat the market" compares a pick with the median project we score over the same period (stablecoins excluded). In a falling market a pick can beat the market and still lose money; across 2021 to 2026 the typical project we score fell substantially.
- The research record from February 2021 to September 2026 is back-tested (our method applied to historical data). Back-tests can overstate results because the method was designed with hindsight and they ignore real trading costs, slippage, taxes and the timing of your own decisions. Live picks have been logged since October 2026.
- The Cycle thermometer and the Yield planner are illustrative tools, not instructions. Market timing signals can be late or wrong, and an illustrative split does not reflect your circumstances.
Vaults
Treasury (Hyperliquid): systematic trading
- Loss of capital: vault returns are not guaranteed and can be negative. You can lose some or all of your deposit.
- Drawdowns: the strategies hold positions through market falls and can be down significantly for weeks before recovering, or may not recover. Our back-tests include periods where the value fell by roughly a fifth to a third from its peak, and live drawdowns can be larger than anything seen in testing.
- Leverage and liquidation: strategies trade perpetual futures and may use leverage. Sharp moves can trigger liquidation of positions at a loss.
- Funding costs: perpetual futures pay or receive funding, which can reduce returns, especially for long-biased strategies. Our simulations do not fully include funding.
- Simulated results: strategy figures we show are back-tested on historical market data with a modelled fill. Real fills, fees, latency and market impact differ, and live results will differ from simulations.
- Exchange and smart-contract risk: Hyperliquid is a third-party decentralised exchange, and Treasury runs on Lagoon smart contracts on HyperEVM. Bugs, exploits, outages, oracle failures, rule changes or the exchange's insolvency could cause losses or block withdrawals.
- Withdrawal rules: withdrawals settle at the vault's daily settlement and can be delayed if the vault is paused for safety or a valuation is held for review. Check the vault page before depositing.
- Fees: the vault charges 2% a year and 20% of new highs (only above its previous peak share value), plus a 0.10% fee on each of its trades, shown on the vault page before you deposit. Your membership fee is charged whether or not the vault makes money.
Stablecoins and third-party yields
- Stablecoins aim to stay worth $1 but can lose their peg, sometimes permanently.
- Rates shown in Best yields and the Yield planner come from third-party protocols. They change constantly, can include temporary token rewards, and are not guaranteed. Yesterday's rate says nothing certain about tomorrow's.
- Our grades (A, B, C) and checks are our opinion of relative risk, not a guarantee of safety. Every listed yield can lose money through smart-contract bugs, exploits, borrower default (credit risk), liquidations, a stablecoin losing its peg, or withdrawal queues and lock-ups. Grade C options take more of these risks in exchange for a higher rate.
- You deposit directly with each protocol from your own wallet. yi3ld does not hold your funds, does not control these protocols, and earns nothing from listing them.
Wallets and self-custody
- If you lose your private keys or recovery phrase, your assets are gone and nobody, including us, can recover them.
- Blockchain transactions are irreversible. Sending to the wrong address or approving a malicious contract can lose funds.
- Scammers impersonate crypto services. yi3ld will never ask for your recovery phrase or private keys, and will never ask you to send funds to us.
Regulatory and tax risk
- Laws on crypto assets, decentralised exchanges and derivatives differ by country and are changing. A change in law could restrict access to a product or affect its value.
- Some products described here may not be available or permitted where you live. You are responsible for checking.
- Gains and losses on crypto assets may be taxable. Keep records and consult a tax adviser.
